One of the biggest challenges of being a soloepreneur is finding balance. Between work, family, and self-care, it can feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day. But as someone who’s walked this path, I’ve learned that managing time and energy effectively isn’t just about productivity—it’s about living in alignment with your values.
Balancing Work, Family, and Self-Care
The reason I started my business was to create a life where I could spend more quality time with my family while building financial freedom. That vision has always been my anchor. To keep everything in balance, I prioritize my tasks by asking myself:
- Does this move me closer to my goals?
- Does this support my ability to spend more time with family?
Strategies I Use to Stay Balanced:
- Time Blocking: I dedicate specific hours to work, family, and personal downtime. My mornings are for focused work, afternoons are for family, and evenings are for unwinding.
- Batching Tasks: Content creation, client calls, and administrative work are grouped into blocks so I can stay in the zone.
- Non-Negotiable Self-Care: Whether it’s a 15-minute meditation, a walk, or simply unplugging for family dinner, I guard this time fiercely.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, take the first step today: Identify one task you can batch or block in your calendar to make your week smoother.
Staying Productive Without Burning Out
Burnout is a real risk when you’re wearing all the hats. Early on, I made the mistake of saying “yes” to everything—working late nights, overcommitting, and underestimating how much rest I needed. That led to exhaustion and even missed opportunities because I wasn’t fully present.
What Changed?
I started focusing on quality over quantity.
- Set Boundaries: I stopped overloading my schedule and created clear work hours.
- Automated Repetitive Tasks: Tools like email automation freed up mental space for higher-impact work.
- Reframed Rest as a Productivity Tool: When I rest, I show up better for my business, clients, and family.
Are you ready to reclaim your energy? Start by identifying one boundary you need to set. It could be as simple as setting a daily work cutoff time.
A Peek Into My Daily Routine
Here’s what a typical day looks like for me:
- 5:30 AM: Morning tea, prayer and meditation, workout, reviewing my priorities for the day.
- 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM: Family time—helping with breakfast, school prep, or just connecting.
- 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM: Focused work (e.g., coaching calls, content creation).
- 12:30 PM – 2:30 PM: Admin tasks, strategy planning, or recording videos.
- 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM: Break and decompress. This could mean a walk, a workout, or quiet time.
- 5:30 PM: Dinner with the family, followed by downtime.
On some days, things don’t go as planned, and that’s okay. Flexibility is key—what matters is focusing on what’s most important.

Lessons Learned from Failure
I used to work for a company where I had to grind through 12-hour days to meet unrealistic quotas with minimal commissions. The leadership and management were going through their own challenges, and eventually, the entire industry faced mass layoffs. It felt like everything hit the fan at once.
The company clearly had other goals and priorities, and they made it evident that employees were expendable. What I learned from this experience was eye-opening: companies will not take accountability for their lack of leadership. When their vision changes, they will drop you if you no longer align with their direction.
That experience fueled my decision to build a scalable business that reflects my values and puts family first. I didn’t want my livelihood tied to someone else’s shifting priorities.
Moments of Inspiration and Motivation
My biggest motivator is imagining the life I’m building for my family. Every time I hear from a client who’s experienced life-changing results, it reaffirms why I’m doing this. For example, one Deaf parent I coached recently shared how they finally had enough income to work fewer hours at their job and spend more time with their kids.

Behind the Scenes of My Creative Process
Building a scalable business while staying true to my family-first values requires intention. My creative process reflects that:
- I brainstorm content ideas during my quiet mornings, often inspired by client conversations or feedback.
- Filming and editing happen in batches to maximize efficiency.
- I always keep my audience in mind—every blog post, video, or webinar is designed to solve a real problem they’ve shared with me.
